Legislation
passed in 2002, A.R.S.§ 25-323.01, created the Child Support
Committee (“Committee”) of the Arizona State
Legislature. The Committee is comprised of 21 members
representing the legislature, legal community, parents, judiciary
and state child support agency. A member of the state Senate
and a member of the House of Representatives share chairmanship of
the Committee and staff support is provided by the Administrative
Office of the Courts.
The
Committee is a forum for all system stakeholders to develop and
coordinate policies and strategies to improve the child support
system. To that end,
the Committee actively explores new concepts for improving the
system, with Committee deliberations resulting in recommended
legislative and/or administrative changes regarding child support guidelines,
enforcement and related issues.
