GLOBE   REGIONAL   JUSTICE  COURT

Gary  Goetteman,  Justice of the Peace

Do you want to file:  a small claims, other civil claim, eviction (forcible detainer), order of protection, injunction against harassment?

Information on those and other court actions – as well as the necessary forms – are available for FREE on-line at:

Globe Regional Justice Court website (Google it)

www.azturbocourt.com  (Has instructional videos and forms)

Or , Google ‘AZ courts self service center’ and the following will appear:

www.azcourts.gov/selfservicecenter  (Also contains information & forms for Superior Court)

www.superiorcourt.maricopa.gov/superiorcourt/self-servicecenter/

There are two public access computers located next to the Globe Regional Justice Court.   They provide free internet access for the above web sites and free printing of the forms.  The above web sites can also be accessed through the public libraries.  Legal Aid also has information.

Court Clerks are not allowed to give legal advice or tell you how to complete your forms.  And when you come to court, the judge will
not be able to help you present your case.

Don’t know what will happen when you come to court?  Then come to the Globe Regional Justice Court and sit in and observe similar cases.

Civil lawsuits, evictions and the variety of criminal misdemeanors are all listed on the daily calendar found on the court’s website.

Do Not rely on what others may tell you about your case, what will happen with your case or what the judge will do.

No two cases are going to be presented or decided the same because the facts in each case differ.

Nevertheless, you can learn how a case proceeds and what it takes to present a case.  Listen to what questions are asked and what evidence is presented in different cases.

All proceedings are open to the public at all times.

Be aware, no weapons, cell phones or children are allowed but water in a closed container is allowed.  You should dress appropriately.

Every morning approximately

8:15 – 9:30

Initial Appearances of people arrested the day before. Those are done over a video from the courtroom.

That is the time when victims on those arrests can appear.

Tuesday Mornings:

Civil traffic hearings (Usually the 2nd & 4th Tuesday because there are few) and Civil pre-trial conferences are held.

Tuesday Afternoons:

12:30-4:30

OPEN COURT. (12:30 -  appearance for in custody defendants.)   Initial Appearances, Arraignments, Orders to Show Cause, Warrants and any non-scheduled cases are seen and pre-trial conferences are set.

Wednesday Mornings:

Pre-trial conferences with the County Attorney and defendants represented by retained private attorneys.

Note:  Pre-trial conferences on the first Wednesday of each month are set for the court appointed attorney.

Wednesday Afternoons:

12:30-4:30

(12:30 – 1:30 in custody defendants appear)  Pre-trial conferences with the County Attorney and defendants who have not retained an attorney or had an attorney appointed by the court.  Defendants handle their own case.  At that time the County Attorney will provide police reports, witnesses, etc. and offer each defendant a plea agreement which can be accepted or rejected.  If unable to reach a plea agreement with the County Attorney, the case is set for a trial.

Monday, Thursdays and Fridays are trial days.
